Q: We are seeking statistics on repeat rates for year 11 and 12 for CE/Workforce Development enrollments.
2.Ideally for a continuing education unit offering a wide range of courses/events, the repeat rate should be 30-50%. If the repeat rate is less than 30%, then a) more work needs to be done generating new students (to make up for the low repeat rate) and b) something normally is wrong (poor quality, poor customer service, not enough new offerings, and/or poor marketing to repeat students).
3.I do agree that the repeat rate in continuing professional education (especially in one specific area of continuing professional education, like Human Resources for example) may be lower than the repeat rate in community education, but if the continuing education unit understands the importance of repeat rate, then even if all they do is continuing professional education, they would be working hard to get students to repeat. Unless there is an untapped group of potential new students that are definitely interested in what you have to offer, there is a question why you would want to put time and resources into a continuing professional education program area.
4.To provide a number, I would think a repeat rate below 20% is too low and analysis should be done on why the number is low. You should be talking to people who have not registered in the last year to determine what they are not registering.
