Q: Does LERN have any examples and possible referrals of colleges operating their Continuing Education or Workforce Training units or even limited programs within these units as nonprofit organizations? I believe that Valencia CC has at one time operated their workforce training operations as a 501(c) 3 at one time. Any information or research on this would be greatly appreciated.
A: Thank you for your question. I worked at one time for an organization that was a 501-c-3 and which was part of Kansas State University. The organization still exists, but does not do Workforce Training. The focus was, and continues to be adult enrichment. You might contact Linda Teener, Director of UFM (the name of the organization) for more information if you think this will be useful. In addition, I will post your question in LinkedIn so that members of our group there can respond if they or organizations they know of, are operating as non-profits.
