Q: I’ve been asked to prepare a “wishlist” for non credit marketing functionality using a CRM in conjunction with enrollment history, and I’m wondering if you have any information about what other colleges have done in this regard.

A: There is a great deal of important information that you should be collecting from your participants. The most successful programs collect and manage the following:

1. Frequency of registration

2. Topics of interest

3. Dollars spent

4. Geographic location (e.g., carrier route)

5. Satisfaction ratings

6. Demographics (age, gender, employment, income, education level and when possible, ethnicity, family status)

7. Completion rates and time to completion

8. Path to completion

9. Time to completion

10. Point of entry/point of exit

11. Educational goal (e.g., certification, diploma, degree, etc.)

12. Employment goal

13. Delivery method (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, online, etc).

14. Referral source
