Q: I’m working with our curriculum committee to develop C.E. non-credit courses vs academic credited courses. Our committee already uses a set of processes to propose new academic courses in the curriculum. However, they have requested the steps of “what & how” from other colleges to compare the C.E. non-credit to academic credit process.
Would you happen to have an example of college procedures or policy for non-credit courses vs academic credited courses? Or, what sort of language should we include to cover any potential gaps?
A: This is actually a fairly complicated question. We are in the process of putting together some best practice information of this kind. We have offered a pre-conference seminar on credit in continuing education and two 4-day institutes. I will give you the contact information for our presenters who should be able to give you some good direction toward finding the information you need.
