Q: We are looking for clear guidance about how to grant formal CEUs.  Do you have any other Oklahoma colleges that grant their own CEUs? Any input will be appreciated.

A: Anyone can offer CEU's, and many colleges offer their own. The standard for this is one CEU for every 10 hours of instruction. The key issue is whether your CEUs are accepted by the associations or credentialing agencies who require them. . IACET (International Association of Continuing Education and Training) has set the standards for CEU's but membership in IACET or approval is not required in order to be able to offer CEU's. Also, you might want to explore LERN's ILU. It is similar to a CEU and many organizations offer both. The ILU is based on mastery of content rather than seat time. If you would like more information on the ILU, let us know.
