Q: Our administration is considering moving us out from under the Graduate Dean and I was interested in any information you have about reporting structures above the Director's level at other universities.
A: There are varying structures for CE reporting. The most typical is that the director reports to a dean, either in the Graduate School or a Dean of Continuing Education. In a small minority of instances, the director or department head may report to the provost. This is very unusual, but in general, the higher up in the hierarchy the person to whom the director reports, the more visible CE can be.
