Course Limits

Q: I am wondering if there is any information that LERN has gathered about showing the number of seats available for a class vs. not showing that information.

A: If the size of the course is limited to a certain number of people, then, of course you should indicate that. Typically, programs do not indicate the number of seats available. This can be a negative if you indicate you have 30 seats available and a prospective participant calls to see what percentage has been filled. If the number is low, it can deter them from registering. It is better to let people know when a class is likely to fill and encourage them to sign up early if you have classes that are very popular. Something like, "there are 30 slots available for this course, and it fills early, so be sure to register today."

Generally, courses do not have waiting lists, so it is best to deal with the ones that are likely to do so on a course by course basis.Otherwise, we see no advantage to indicating the number of seats available.
