Sample Blog Post For You: Why not online?

Are you worried that online learning isn't right for you?  Although each student is unique and comes into the classroom with their own experiences, a lot of the reasons that students have for avoiding online courses are the same. Which reason is yours?

  • I'm not enough of a "techie".  I can barely operate my smartphone - do you really think I can take a whole class online?

Yes! You definitely can.  [Your Organization Name] offers courses taught in the UGotClass classroom - built with the best practices in learning online in mind. The classroom is extremely user friendly and perfect for first time students.  Want to view the video for the week? Click "Presentations"! Want to test your knowledge? Click "Self-Quizzes"! It really is that easy.  All you'll need is an internet connection, speakers, and a can-do attitude. Don't believe us? View a 3 minute classroom tour here.

  • I need to take a face-to-face course so I can get all my questions answered and share my thoughts with my classmates. You don't have the same opportunities in online learning to build relationships with your classmates and teachers.

Are you sure? Our end of course surveys consistently come back with great feedback about the collaboration that happens in UGotClass classrooms with students and instructors. Rebecca, a student that took one of our online courses last year says, "Our instructor put together a very well structured class with many extras he didn't have to give us. Many instructors do not go the extra mile for their students. He offered his views, help, and time. He is a great instructor.Bradley, a teacher who took a UGotClass course to fulfill his Professional Development requirements, loved his class! He says, "I most looked forward to the discussion boards, as many of the other students brought a lot of great stuff to the table!” A benefit that online courses have that face-to-face courses lack: geographic diversity. Students from all over North America can take our online courses, so you'll be able to network with people from all over!

  • I want to be challenged. Online courses are too easy and I won't learn anything new.

Some online courses are too easy for you, just like some face-to-face courses would be too easy. We offer online courses for all skill levels. If you are a seasoned manager, take Leadership in the 21st Century or Managing Generations in the Workplace instead of our more introductory Leadership Principles course.  If you're a veteran teacher looking for a fresh prospective for your professional development, consider Generational Learning Styles or Gender in the Classroom - both courses are built on groundbreaking research.  Our instructors are all experts in their field, so there's no question too basic or too advanced.

  • I'm too old to try an online course.  Haven't you heard: you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

You're never too old to learn something new. The UGotClass classroom is perfect for beginners - it's very user friendly. UGotClass was founded by a Baby Boomer, and several of our instructors are Boomers too.  If they can do it, so can you.  We'll be here to help every step of the way.

  • I don't care if the course is online or face-to-face. I am WAY too busy to take a class right now.  Maybe I'll be able to sign up in a few months.
It sounds like online learning is exactly what you need. UGotClass courses are asynchronous, meaning that even though they have set start and end dates, you don't need to log in at any specific time during the day.  Our courses are divided into weekly units (Monday-Sunday). Most students spend about 4 hours/week in the classroom total - you can access your materials anywhere! Pull up your weekly reading assignment during halftime of your daughter's soccer game. Watch the unit presentation while you make dinner. If you feel like you're falling behind, just contact the classroom administrators. They can give you an extension or transfer your enrollment into the next offering of the course - no questions asked.

Do we have you convinced to give online learning a try? Visit our website (hyperlink your URL for students looking for more info here) or call (Add your registration phone number here) for more information about upcoming course dates.
