Christina Draper's session titled "Making UGotClass Work For You" was a big hit at the 2015 LERN Annual Conference.
Here are the top tips from our Top Partner for UGotClass this past year. Tom Parfitt and Christina Draper both worked on promoting UGotClass at the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies this past year. The University of Richmond was so successful with UGotClass they had over 200 registrations and made $25,000. So you know what they did worked. Here’s their top tips from a packed session they did at the big LERN annual conference recently.
List F2F and Online On Same Page
List your in-person and UGotClass online courses on the same subject on the same page. This makes your offerings look more robust in that subject area, say Parfitt and Draper. This applies to your print brochure, but it may work well with a web page devoted to one subject also.
New: Results-Focused Testimonials
Run one or two testimonials that describe “how people are using the information” gained in their UGotClass course or certificate. The take-away results and outcomes oriented testimonial should speak more to the outcomes that happened after the course was completed, not just to what happened during the class. Most
testimonials focus on the class or instructor. This new testimonial content may mean longer testimonials, as most class-focused testimonials are often one sentence, even one line of copy. While longer, you may only want one or two of the results-focused testimonials, so you don’t need as many to impress potential customers.
Run ‘Benefits of Online Learning’
In your print brochure, run a feature story on the benefits of online learning. The story will help generate new customers for UGotClass online courses, especially those who have not tried an online course, or are prodded by a reminder of all the benefits.
Highlight Minimal Technical Requirements
Reduce wariness and the risk factor in the minds of your potential customers by highlighting how minimal the technical requirements are for UGotClass courses and certificates. Name the technical requirements, which are:
1. Internet access
2. Audio software, often built into your computer already
3. Speakers for audio, often already built into your computer already
Create Repetitive Web Pages
Create web pages that repeat the same UGotClass certificate and course titles. That boosts your SEO (search engine optimization) rankings. The higher your rankings, the more likely your organization’s web page will appear on the first page of a search term, and the higher up on that page it will appear. It also makes it easier for students to find what they're looking for if it is listed in multiple places.
