Meet Dr. Rita Martinez-Purson.

Over the last 30 years, Rita has been a supporter, contributor and member of LERN. Prior to joining the LERN team as a consultant, Dr. Martinez-Purson has served as Dean of Continuing Education in both university and community college settings. She held dean positions The University of New Mexico and Santa Fe Community College, and served as Interim President at Santa Fe Community College and  Interim Vice President at the University of New Mexico. Currently she holds the title of Dean Emerita of Continuing Education at UNM and recently led the start-up of a new continuing education division at the University of Arizona. 

As Human Resources Group Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory, she led strategic organizational development and staffing initiatives for the largest directorate of the organization. She has led strategic planning efforts for business, industry and government organizations.

Rita brings a tremendous amount of experience in higher education and continuing education. In her role as Interim Vice President at UNM she launched major organizational development efforts including the new Office of Equity and Inclusion, leading major planning efforts with organization-wide input. Examples of this hands-on experience make her a leading expert in a wide variety of areas such as strategic planning, continuing education and credit relationship strategies and developing customized training, just to name a few.

Rita is a contributor of LERN articles of current and timely matters occurring in the field of adult education. She authored this ebook on successful financial models and internal partnerships in continuing education. 

Rita presents at LERN's Conferences  but also has presented onsite throughout North America. She is an expert in programming, leadership development, sales and operations who can address specific challenges your organization is facing. Rita can provide consulting services that include staff restructuring, human resource development, redesigning pricing, building a contract sales department and more.

An area of Rita's expertise is building strong organizational leadership, and she has presented video clips, onsite trainings and conference presentations on leadership and strategic planning best practices.
