Registration Form

Q: I wondered about something and wanted to see what your thoughts are.  Are programs still using a full page for a registration form? We have transitioned to online registration and while I know we don’t want to eliminate the mail in option I don’t really want to use a full page as a mail in form.

A: This is a great question. The answer is, yes--programs for the most part have not changed their registration pages significantly. However, that does not mean that change is not something that should be considered. In your case, I would recommend that you review your statistics--how many people actually use the registration form in the brochure. Chances are the number is a small percentage of your overall registrations. This does NOT mean that your participants are getting all their information online, however. Research has shown that most people who register online still use the print brochure as the primary source of information. It is still important to have complete and thorough information about how to register included in your brochure, as well. I do think that LERN's recommendation in the past, of including two registration forms, should be changed. I think one is enough now, with online options, but your brochure should still include one registration form and information about how to register, refund policies, and other details of how to sign up for your classes. It would be a big mistake to exclude this content and simply direct people to your online registration forms, as including a call to action is critical to getting people to sign up. Nothing emphasizes the importance of signing up immediately better than content devoted to registration. Reducing the size of the form and moving from two forms to one would most likely not be detrimental to your program.
