Class Searches

Q: Do you have any research on how customers look for classes? We are trying to figure out if we want to list by age, or topic.

A: The most common way for people to search for classes is by topic. Rarely does someone say, "Hmmm. I would like to take a course. Let's see what is available on Wednesday," or "let's see what there is for Senior Citizens."

It is more typical that people will search for a topic of interest, such as fitness, hiking, family activities, etc. For this reason, LERN recommends that classes be listed with major headings, such as Dance, and then by sub-topics such as "Salsa, Ballroom Dance," etc.

Also, when listing your courses in your table of contents, you should list your most popular topics first and those with the least number of enrollments last.
