Tilikum Crossing is the first major bridge in the United States built for every kind of transit -except cars.
You can take the MAX light rail across it, and bicycle, and walk, and bus, and streetcar. You just cannot drive a car across it.
In honor of Native American peoples, the bridge is named after the local Chinook word for people.
Combining new transit with environmental concerns and a respect for diversity, Tilikum Crossing is another example of why Portland is a 21st Century city.
The MAX orange line over Tilikum Crossing stops right near the Portland Hilton & Executive Tower.
