Online learning has had another big impact on association education that is starting to emerge for associations and will likely grow throughout the rest of this decade.
Blended learning, sometimes called hybrid or web-enhanced learning, involves people meeting
physically at an event. But before, after, during, or between in-person meetings, participants
log into an online classroom to engage in any number of online activities, from accessing readings to online discussion.
LERN predicts that by 2020 all in-person events and courses will be hybrid, having incorporated some online resource into the face-to-face experience.
There’s also evidence that blended learning is superior. For traditional age college students in higher education, research now indicates that students learning in a hybrid situation
learn more than those learning either solely face-to-face or or those learning totally online.
